Blog 3 – Reference Pictures

Disclaimer: These pictures are inspiration for me making this level. I did not take these pictures. These pictures are not mine!

This style of sewer I’m basing my sewer off of.

This is a Japanese style sewer that I really like and want to find a way to implement it somehow where it’s appropriate.

Next Post, I’ll to show off the all floors of my level layout and have all objects placed as well.

Blog 2 – First Design Comp

This is a design composition of my new level in full color with legend and most of the objects in the level.

The legend is pretty straight forward, but the only thing that might be unclear is the big numbers like “2” and “3”. These numbers indicate which floor the ladder will take the player that the player will go to when they go on it. So, if a ladder has the number “2” near it the player will go to the 2nd floor.
I’ll have to composite the other two floors later.

Next Post, I’ll to show off the reference pictures that are my inspiration and that I’m basing the look of my level on.

Blog 1 – Sketch

This is a new level I’m doing which means new sketch.

This is a continuation of my Warehouse level. The objective of that level was to get to a sewer pipe to get down in the sewers. And now this level takes place in the sewers below the surface. This sketch is only for the 1st level which I got done and a well thought-out idea of what I want. My vision is to have 3 floors that the player will have to go through and reach the end.

Next Post, I’ll have a digital version of this sketches which will be more cleaned up, refined, and polished.

Introduction

Hello, this is Mark Baker and I'm a graduate from International Academy of Design and Technology - Detroit. My area of interest in Game Production is level design first and modeling. This is going to be my third level I'll be creating in Unreal Engine 3. I'll be going through majority if not, the whole design process.

The objective of this project for this level is to get better in Unreal Engine 3 in more aspects I’ve done in the past and try to do very little modeling outside of Unreal as possible to expand and have more times for other features I want to implement. I will be doing all the sketching, modeling, texturing, exporting, and placement myself. I want to make this indoor level with a lot of navigation and functionality.

Please feel free to leave comments that will aid me in making this level be the best it can be.

Thank you very much!
